What is the Booksonline.com Affiliate Program?
The Booksonline.com affiliate program allows you to place links to our book clubs on your web site. By placing these links, visitors to your site have the opportunity to apply for membership in our clubs. For every visitor who submits a valid application and is accepted into a book club, commission payouts begin at $13 per book club and $20 for BOMC2.

Who is Booksonline.com?
Booksonline.com is operated by Bookspan. We have been meeting the needs of readers everywhere for over 70 years — and now Booksonline.com is helping to bring this experience to the Web.

Why should I join?
There are many reasons to join! Becoming an Affiliate is free, and you'll make money with very little effort. Our book clubs offer great savings on books that cover a wide spectrum of interests and genres that are sure to appeal to your site visitors and add value to the content of your site. We take the customer application and handle all payments. All you do is cash the check!

Does it cost me anything to become an Affiliate?
No! It's absolutely free to join our Affiliate Program. There is no charge to apply and there is no minimum sales requirement.

I operate more than one web site. Can I still be an Affiliate?
Yes, you can have multiple sites as an Affiliate. You can have one Affiliate account with us that will include all of your sites. In addition you can track the progress of each of your sites separately and be paid with only one commission check. We've got book clubs that focus upon a wide range of interests and lifestyles that are certain to be appropriate for each of your sites.

Can I be an affiliate if I operate my website outside of the United States?
Yes, however, in order for you to receive a commission on enrollments to our book clubs, the applicants must have valid United States shipping addresses.

How does the program work?
An Affiliate Program allows you to make money by referring your site visitors to our sites. You do this by placing links on your site. Every time you refer a customer to us and that customer submits a valid application to join a book club and the customer is accepted as a member by one of the book clubs, you earn a commission. For BOMC2, a subscriber is not a valid qualified application unless the applicant creates a Reading list and submits at least one (1) book to the Reading list.

How do I sign up?
It's easy! Complete our online application form. After you submit your application, we will email you with information on how to get started.

Is my web site eligible to become an Affiliate?
Most sites will qualify to participate in the program. Anyone may join the program, but we reserve the right to revoke a site's membership at any time if we deem that it contains objectionable material, or violates the Affiliate Agreement.

What are Booksonline.com's responsibilities?
We will provide you with the promotional tools and support you need to maximize revenue through your site. We also handle the application process, shipping, and billing for all customers you refer to us.

I don't have a web site. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, you cannot join at this time. In order for us to accept you as an Affiliate, we must be able to view your web site. However, this may change in the near future, so please check back in a few months.

Can I participate in other Affiliate Programs?
Yes, but we hope you will find your partnership with us to be the most effective in maximizing your revenues. Compared with other book selling affiliate programs, which may pay a commission on sales, Booksonline.com will pay you for every valid enrollment. With other programs, in order to earn $13 on a 7% commission, you would have to sell over $185 worth of books.

How do I change my account information?
This can be managed thru your Commission Junction account page: www.cj.com

Will becoming an Affiliate increase traffic to my site?
Our Affiliate Program is not designed to help you increase traffic to your site; however, we will provide you with expert advice on how to motivate your users and increase your audience base.

Does Booksonline have a Search Policy?
Advertising on search engines is allowed however, there are guidelines that must be followed depening on whether you are direct or indirect linking. After you have joined, please review the program guidelines.



SETTING UP LINKS

How do I create links?
Log in to your Commission Junction interface; find the Booksonline.com account and select the most appropriate links.

Where should I place the links on my site?
You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as your homepage. Some areas you may want to place your links include your home page, your navigation bar, and any other traffic areas. If you place the links in an easily accessible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to click and apply.

Can I place links in emails to my users?
Yes, this has been proven to be an extremely effective way of generating Book Club applications. It is important to note that Booksonline.com does not condone the use of SPAM. All emails, in which you feature our program, must be sent with the users' permission. Prior to sending an email, you must contact the Booksonline team to learn how to obtain Booksonline's e-mail suppression file.

How often should I update my links?
You should update links to our products frequently. We are constantly adding links for hot new books and book clubs, so you should create new links that fit the interests of your visitors.


TRACKING, PAYMENT, AND REPORTING


How much can I earn?
There is no limit to how much you can earn. You will earn a commission for every valid enrollment your site generates and for every valid BOMC2 subscription. Compare this to other book selling affiliate programs which pay a commission on sales -- to earn $13 on a 7% commission; you would have to sell over $185 worth of books. With our program, one valid enrollment will earn you $13.

How do I know how much commission I've earned?
Log in to your Commission Junction account and review reports. The Booksonline.com data are updated daily.

How often do I get paid?
Checks are paid monthly, provided you reach the Commission Junction minimum. Review your Publisher Account for details.

Do I earn a commission on my own application?
Yes. When you apply to one of our book clubs through your web site, you earn the same commission on your application that you would from a visitor application once you are approved for enrollment.

What about invalid applications?
If a user submits an invalid application (see Operating Agreement for definition), you will not receive a commission.

Can a customer apply to more than one club?
Yes. A customer can apply to all of our clubs that suit their interests, but he or she can not apply to more than one club in the same day.

Who processes orders and handles customer service?
We do all of that for the customers that you refer to our site. All you have to do is place links on your site. We do the rest!

How will you know that the orders came from my site?
All links from your site to our site contain a unique identifier so that every time a user comes to us via your site, we know to credit you when an application is actually accepted for membership by a book club. This is only possible, though, when you create all of your links from the Commission Junction account. Links cannot be altered.

How often can I run reports?
You can run reports daily if you wish. Log in to www.CJ.com, the reporting web site, which is updated daily with the latest information about your site.
